The Badger Brush

The badger brush is a faux finishing tool that professional finishers cannot do without.  If you are a homeowner cost of this brush, around $100, may be too much for one faux finish project.  If you do decide to purchase one I promise you wont be disappointed!

This brush is usually used to soften a paint glaze mixture on a color wash, marble veins or wood graining.

The key to using a badger brush is to lightly brush the surface prior to the glaze drying. I like to move the brush in an "x' pattern.  You could also move the brush in a swirl pattern. I continue the motion until i get the desired effect. This will soften the lines, veins, etc.  It is a tremendous look!

Tip: when you are done with your project only the tip of the badger brush should be dirty!

Dont use your badger brush like you would a paint brush!

When you clean your brush only wet the area that has glaze on it.  Do not wet the entire length of the bristles.  This will ensure you get a more use out of your brush!

In future articles i will show you the amazing effects you can achieve....stay tuned!
